Indexing and accessing points on the Earth's Surface

We need to line the points up. • One major issue is that the points are in 2- dimensions, and we need to make a single data item (the “GeoString” or key) from the two co-ordinates (latitude and longitude). • We'd like to do this so that points near on the GeoString line are also usually near on the earth. • One way is to interleave the bits and index this – the so-called Z-curve.
